Our Guest Speaker: Ken Martens

“Civil War Biographical Sketches of Heroism, Honor and Sacrifice.”

I will be speaking on civil war subjects that I wrote of in my book, The Perilous St. Croix River Valley Frontier. Capt. Emil Munch of the First Minnesota Light Artillery The Fighting Reverend of the Third Minnesota; Simon Putnam. Minnesota's Knight of the Golden Circle; Confederate John Colby. Issac Van Vleck, The Aged Volunteer of the Eighth Minnesota. The Grief of War: Pvt. John F. Peterson. I also want to include a bonus for the St. Cloud members and mention Col Becker of the St. Cloud Militia and the unknown hero of Co. G Ninth Minnesota.

Who We Are...

The Central Minnesota Civil War Roundtable, was formed in April 2007 in St. Cloud, MN. We meet monthly during the school year to discuss various aspects of the Civil War. Most meetings feature a speaker and a question-and-answer session.
